Reducer Assembly 244-83-01000 – Shantui SR22 Road Roller
The reducer assembly – also called a travel drive or final drive – is the final torque-multiplying stage in the drivetrain before torque reaches the drum of a single-drum vibratory roller. Engine power travels through the torque converter and transmission, then reaches the reducer, which multiplies the input torque one last time and delivers it directly to the drum's hub. When the reducer fails – whether through bearing seizure, gear tooth breakage, or oil seal leakage – the drum may not turn at all, may grind and lurch unpredictably, may overheat during compaction passes, or may allow unwanted rolling back on incline work.
