Laying the foundation: Building a smooth path for the pavement machinery supply chain

A straight and wide highway, like a black ribbon, winds its way through the lofty mountains and steep hills. Behind this ribbon lies the silent dedication of countless construction machinery, among which road rollers and graders play a crucial role. They are the 'beauticians' and 'plastic surgeons' of roads, determining the flatness and durability of the road surface. Relying on our deep cooperation with brands such as XCMG, Shantui, Caterpillar, and Volvo, we have built a full-industry chain road machinery supply system covering subgrades, base layers, and surface layers, ensuring the quality of every kilometer of road.

The subgrade is the foundation of the road and must be solid and stable. In subgrade construction, the grader is undoubtedly the 'master of fine finishing'. The Shantui and Caterpillar graders we provide are equipped with laser or GPS automatic leveling systems. The operator only needs to set the design elevation, and the blade can automatically adjust its height to cut and fill the uneven earthwork, with errors controlled at the millimeter level. This high-precision leveling not only provides a perfect foundation for subsequent paving layers but also effectively prevents cracks in the road surface caused by subgrade settlement.

Compaction is the core link in road construction. Rollers use their huge steel wheels and vibrating frequencies to tightly compress loose soil, stones, or asphalt particles together. In our supply chain system, rollers from XCMG and Volvo are renowned for their strong exciting force and excellent compaction effect. During the subgrade compaction stage, large-tonnage single drum rollers repeatedly strike the ground like hammers, ensuring that each layer of soil reaches the specified compaction degree. In the asphalt paving stage, double drum and pneumatic-tired rollers form an 'echelon', with the former responsible for initial compaction and shaping, and the latter for re-compaction and densification, ultimately presenting a mirror-like smooth and flat road surface.

Different construction scenarios require different equipment combinations. In the construction of airport runways, due to the extremely high requirements for flatness, we recommend ultra-large graders equipped with a 3D leveling system, as well as road rollers capable of oscillatory compaction to eliminate minor ripples on the road surface. In narrow areas of municipal roads, we provide small double-drum rollers and handheld vibrating tamps to ensure that even the corners are compacted properly. This flexible and adaptable equipment configuration capability is a manifestation of our supply chain advantage.

The reliability of core components determines the operational efficiency of road machinery. We collaborate closely with engine and hydraulic pump valve suppliers to ensure that the hydraulic system of road rollers remains cool and pressure-tight during prolonged continuous vibration operations. For the high-temperature environment of asphalt paving, we have specially selected high-temperature-resistant tires and seals to prevent equipment from 'stopping' on asphalt surfaces that reach over 100 degrees. Meanwhile, engines from Weichai and Shangchai provide stable power output for these devices, ensuring abundant power during heavy-load hill climbing.

Intelligentization is the new trend in road construction. The new generation of road machinery we have integrated is generally equipped with an intelligent compaction management system. This system can display compaction passes, compaction degree, and temperature in real time. Operators can clearly see where the compaction has been done and where it has not through the screen in the cab, avoiding missed compaction and overcompaction. This 'visualized' construction method greatly improves the quality of the project, shifting road construction from 'experience-driven' to 'data-driven'.
